The scholarship is offered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in collaboration with HTW Berlin University of Applied Sciences, the largest university of applied sciences in Berlin. The program supports the Master's degree in International and Development Economics (MIDE), designed to equip students with the skills needed to tackle global economic challenges, especially in developing and transitional countries.
SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS
The DAAD MIDE Scholarship is fully funded and provides comprehensive financial support, including:

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be considered for the DAAD MIDE Scholarship 2026, applicants must:
- Be from a developing country
- Have at least two years of professional work experience after graduation
- Have obtained a first university degree with at least 180 ECTS (or equivalent qualification)
- Have completed at least 15 ECTS in Economics (or at least three Economics-related modules for applicants outside the ECTS system)
- Meet the English language requirements (no additional proof required if English was the language of instruction for your previous degree)
AVAILABLE PROGRAMS
Master's Degree in International and Development Economics (MIDE) This is a well-structured program taught entirely in English, focusing on global economic issues, development policies, and economic analysis relevant to developing countries. The program offers compulsory courses with the flexibility to construct your own profile through various elective modules. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Applicants must prepare and submit the following electronic documents:
- Letter of motivation (maximum two pages, personally signed and dated)
- Transcript of records and degree certificate(s) including your Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) with official translations if necessary
- Grading system explanation (usually included in transcript or Diploma Supplement)
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) in Europass format, signed and dated
- Copy of passport
- Proof of English language proficiency (if applicable)
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Applications for April 2027 will be accepted from July 1, 2026, until September 30, 2026. You do not need to submit certified hard copies of your university documents when applying. Electronic copies are sufficient for your application. Only admitted applicants who accept their study place will need to submit certified hard copies with a signed study contract.
