Position: Field Senior Officer (Community Mobilizer)
Tubura is looking for community mobilizers at the Cell level (Akagari) who will help implement project activities directly with farmers.
Successful candidates will work in one of the following districts:
- Gatsibo
- Kayonza
- Rwamagana
- Nyamasheke
The selected candidates will support farmers in tree planting, project monitoring, and data collection to ensure the success of the restoration program.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants who meet the following requirements are encouraged to apply:
- An A2 certificate in any field
- Additional advantage for candidates with training in Agriculture or Forestry
- Practical experience in tree planting, community mobilization, or agricultural activities
- Ability to work closely with farmers and local authorities
- Strong commitment to environmental protection and community development
Candidates with relevant field experience may also be considered even if their academic background is not directly related.
Key Responsibilities
1. Implement Farmer Field Activities
Field Senior Officers will work directly with farmers to ensure proper implementation of agroforestry activities. Their responsibilities include:
- Mobilizing farmers to participate in the FLR program
- Training farmers on proper tree planting techniques
- Providing field guidance during farmer registration
- Mapping farmers’ land using GIS technology
- Coordinating the distribution of tree seedlings
- Conducting regular farm visits to monitor progress
- Providing technical support to farmers facing challenges
2. Data Collection and Carbon Certification Monitoring
The role also includes collecting technical data necessary for project verification and carbon payment systems.
Key tasks include:
- GIS mapping of registered farmers’ plots
- Monitoring compliance with PES certification standards
- Tracking the survival rate of planted trees
- Conducting surveys and collecting field data for project evaluation
3. Collaboration with Local Leaders
Field Senior Officers will strengthen collaboration between Tubura and local government authorities by:
- Attending meetings with local leaders
- Sharing updates about project progress
- Aligning project goals with government priorities
- Supporting the project in obtaining required permissions
- Building strong relationships with community stakeholders
4. Monitoring Farmer Payments and Incentives
Another important responsibility is ensuring transparency in farmer incentives.
This includes:
- Recording farmer payments and incentives
- Communicating payment systems and expectations
- Working with the FLR team to ensure fair compensation for participating farmers
5. Managing Community Tree Nurseries
Tubura also supports community-based tree nurseries to supply seedlings for the project.
The Field Senior Officer will:
- Identify and support nursery out-growers
- Train nursery operators
- Provide necessary materials
- Conduct follow-up visits
- Monitor seed germination and plant quality
- Ensure proper nursery management practices
